My air fried Oreos are a crunchy, sweet, chocolatey, and completely irresistible dessert, just like the ones from the fair! I use simple ingredients and cook them in the air fryer so they stay golden brown and delicious without deep-frying in oil.
My Favorite Air Fryer Fried Oreos
My recipe for air fried Oreos was inspired by my absolute favorite treat to get at the fair as a kid: deep fried Oreos! I always skipped the funnel cake or the cotton candy and went straight for this creamy, chocolatey delicacy.
Years later when I heard the fair was coming to town, I got a sudden craving for my favorite childhood indulgence. I didn’t feel like waiting until the fair, so I decided to whip up my own version that didn’t involve deep frying!
It took me a few tries, but once I had the temperature and the method figured out, I couldn’t believe how much my air fried Oreos tasted like the ones I remembered from when I was a kid at the fair. I tried pan-frying them and baking them in the oven, but in the end, the air fryer was the clear winner.
I honestly think sharing these with my kids was even more fun for me than it was for them. But they still get super excited every time I tell them I’m whipping up another batch, so it’s a win-win!
And, if you love Oreos, try my Oreo mug cake, Oreo dirt cake, Oreo mousse, and Oreo balls!
Air Fryer Oreos Ingredients
- Oreo cookies – This is the heart of the treat! Oreos add that creamy, chocolate flavor in every bite. I love using Double Stuf Oreos because of the extra cream inside.
- Pillsbury crescent rolls – Wrapping each Oreo creates a flaky, golden crust that crisps up beautifully in the air fryer. A dough sheet will also work.
- Powdered sugar – Optional, but a light dusting adds sweetness and makes the treat look extra festive!
How to Make Fried Oreos in the Air Fryer

STEP ONE: Spread the crescent roll dough out onto a flat surface and lightly press down on all the perforated lines with your finger. This allows the dough to form a single piece.
STEP TWO: Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the crescent roll sheet into 8 even squares.
STEP THREE: Place one Oreo in the center of each crescent roll dough square and roll all four corners inward on top of the Oreo. The bunch the rest of the crescent roll over the Oreo, making sure it covers the entire sandwich cookie.
STEP FOUR: Preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees then place the Oreos in the air fryer in a single layer with space in between each. Air fry them for 5-6 minutes, remove them from the air fryer, then dust with sugar, if using!
Tips for the Best Air Fried Oreos
- I bunch the crescent roll dough very carefully around the Oreos without stretching the crescent rolls to avoid any tearing.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. I always leave plenty of space so they cook evenly in a single batch. If any of them are touching, the dough will merge.
- I preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees F. This gives me that golden crisp without burning the dough or over-melting the Oreos.
- Watch for golden edges at 5–6 minutes. I check around 5 minutes to avoid over-browning.
- I always let my air fried Oreo recipe cool for about 2 minutes so my kids and husband won’t burn their tongues!
Air Fry Oreos Variations and Substitutions
- I love using mint‑flavored Oreos for a mint-chocolate version. This is especially great for a St. Patrick’s Day treat!
- Golden Oreos are also really fun in this recipe! I sprinkle them with a little cinnamon for a delicious twist.
- I sometimes replace crescent rolls with puff pastry for extra flakiness when I want an upscale feel.
- Cut the crescent roll dough into 10 pieces instead of 8. It will have less of an outer layer, but will make 2 extra air-fried Oreos and still taste delicious!
- For a fun churro-inspired twist, I sprinkle the air fryer Oreos with a cinnamon-sugar mix when they come out of the air fryer.

Air Fried Oreos FAQs
Do I need to use oil to make air fryer fried Oreos?
If I’m worried about sticking, I’ll either give my air fryer basket a very light spray of oil or lay parchment paper in the basket. But in my experience, air fryer Oreos don’t need any extra oil. I never spray the tops!
Are air fried Oreos vegan?
While Pillsbury Crescent Rolls are vegan and Oreos have vegan ingredients, Oreos are not guaranteed vegan because of potential cross-contamination with milk. They qualify as vegetarian, but are not considered truly vegan.
How should I store leftovers?
I store cooled Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature and try to enjoy them within 1–2 days before they lose their crisp.
How should I reheat leftover air fryer Oreos?
My favorite way to enjoy leftover air fried Oreos is to reheat them in the air fryer. I preheat to 320 degrees F, then stick them back in for about 2 minutes, just enough to make the outside nice and crispy again and warm the centers.
