  • Olive Oil gives the veggies moisture and flavor and helps the breadcrumb mixture stick.
  • Seasoning: Kosher salt, sweet paprika, dried parsley, black pepper.
  • Garlic: Minced garlic adds a savory aroma to the green bean topping that make this so good.
  • Cheese: Grated Pecorino Romano or parmesan mixes with the breadcrumbs to create a crispy, golden coating.

How to Air Fry Green Beans

  1. Season the Green Beans: Toss them with olive oil and sprinkle them with salt.
  2. How Long to Cook Green Beans in the Air Fryer: Air fry them for 7 to 8 minutes at 375°F, shaking the basket halfway, until crisp tender. If you like them more charred add a few more minutes.
  3. Make the Breadcrumb Mixture: Combine the remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Spread the crumbs over the green beans, spray with olive oil, and air fry 375F for 2 more minutes, until golden.

Variations

  • Vegetables: This Parmesan breadcrumb topping would be delicious on other vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus.
  • Can’t eat gluten? Use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • Don’t have seasoned breadcrumbs? Add additional spices to the breadcrumbs, like garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Vegan: Omit the cheese.
  • Herbs: Swap dried parsley with oregano or thyme.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans , rinsed, trimmed and patted dry
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil , divided
  • ¼ teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 small garlic cloves , minced or pressed through a garlic press
  • 2 ½ tablespoons grated pecorino romano or parmesan cheese
  • 1 ½ tablespoon seasoned breadcrumbs , such as 4C or gluten-free crumbs
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the green beans, 2 teaspoons olive oil and ¼ teaspoon kosher salt.  Toss to evenly coat.
  • Add the green beans to the air fryer basket and air fry 375F 6 to 7 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until crisp tender.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic, ⅛ teaspoon salt, paprika, parsley, black pepper and remaining 1 teaspoon oil and mix well.  Open the air fryer basket and evenly spread over the green beans, then spritz with olive oil spray. Air fry 375F for 2 minutes until golden.
  • Transfer beans to a serving platter and serve immediately.
